During the session, Marie Le Hanaff from ProtectDefenders.eu highlighted the crucial role of the upcoming EU Directive on Protecting Human Rights Defenders, which is now open for public consultation until February 28th.
This Directive represents a significant step forward in ensuring the safety and empowerment of HRDs worldwide. It aims to create a coherent framework for their protection, strengthen support mechanisms, and reinforce the EU’s commitment to defending those who risk everything to uphold fundamental rights.
